Setting VPS Linux yang Memiliki RAM Terbatas
VPS adalah singkatan dari Virtual Private Server. Kata virtual ini merujuk pada fakta bahwa server tersebut tidak eksis secara fisik, namun berada di dalam sebuah komputer. Satu server fisik dibagi menjadi beberapa server virtual.
Masing-masing VPS memiliki sumber daya yang sudah dialokasikan atau berbagi satu sama lain, sesuai dengan setelan utamanya. Dengan kata lain, VPS adalah komputer di dalam komputer. VPS merupakan pilihan yang lebih murah jika menginginkan server sendiri untuk berbagai tujuan.
Cara setting VPS dengan RAM minimalis
Kali ini saya akan membahas bagaimana cara setting vps dari awal. Cara yang akan saya bahas kali ini tidak membutuhkan keahlian yang terlalu tinggi. Asalkan anda mengerti bagaimana mengetik perintah di terminal Linux, itu sudah cukup. Sebelumnya, siapkan dulu segelas kopi dan cemilan. 🙂
- Di pembahasan kali ini, saya menggunakan Debian 6 dan memang harus Debian 6. 🙂 Oleh karena itu install Debian 6 di VPS anda. Caranya? Kalo anda beli VPS, pasti anda sudah tahu caranya bagaimana.
- Setelah itu masuk ke VPS anda lewat SSH, jalankan perintah apt-get update && apt-get -y upgrade. Perintah ini akan mengupdate aplikasi-aplikasi lawas dan menggantinya dengan yang baru jika ada.
- Instal aplikasi git, ketik apt-get install git.
- Download script LEB Debian 6, caranya ketik git clone https://github.com/restiono/autosetupvps.git /root/bin/ lalu tunggu prosesnya sampai selesai.
- Jalankan dpkg-reconfigure locales untuk mensetting locale. Nanti akan muncul dialog box, pastikan anda hanya memilih en_US saja.
- Masuk ke folder /root/bin, lalu jalankan perintah-perintah ini:
chmod +x ./setup-debian.sh
./setup-debian.sh dotdeb
./setup-debian.sh dotdeb
./setup-debian.sh system
./setup-debian.sh dropbear 22
./setup-debian.sh iptables 22
./setup-debian.sh nginx
./setup-debian.sh php
./setup-debian.sh mysql
Perintah kedua menambahkan repository dari dotdeb. Perintah ketiga membersihkan sistem VPS anda dari aplikasi-aplikasi yang tidak diperlukan seperti Apache, dll. Perintah keempat membuang sshd dan menggantinya dengan dropbear lalu berjalan di port 22. Perintah kelima melakukan instalasi firewall sederhana untuk mengamankan server anda. Perintah enam, tujuh dan delapan sudah jelas menginstall nginx web server, dukungan PHP dan database MySQL. - Anda juga dapat memindahkan port dropbear selain 22, misalnya pindah ke 888 atau 666, sesuka anda, asalkan bukan 80. Perhatikan bahwa angka pada perintah ketiga dan keempat harus sama atau anda akan kesulitan login SSH.
Pada langkah ini server anda sudah siap tempur, namun belum bisa diakses sebagai web server. Nah, untuk itulah ada langkah lagi untuk menangani web server nginx supaya dapat digunakan.
Menambahkan website/blog ke dalam VPS
Setelah melalui langkah diatas, anda bisa mulai menambahkan domain anda ke dalam web server nginx. Caranya masih cukup sederhana menggunakan script LEB diatas. Perintahnya adalah sebagai berikut:
./setup-debian.sh site nama-domain.com
./setup-debian.sh mysqluser nama-domain.com
./setup-debian.sh wordpress nama-domain.com
Perintah nama-domain.com diganti dengan nama domain anda, misalnya kampret.com atau yang lain. Penjelasan perintah-perintah diatas adalah sebagai berikut:
- Perintah pertama membuat file config nginx untuk domain yang anda sebutkan. Perintah ini juga membuat direktori di /var/www dengan nama folder sesuai domain yang anda sebutkan. Root folder website/blog anda ada di folder public yang ada di dalamnya.
- Perintah kedua adalah membuat username, password dan database di MySQL server anda. Perintah ini harus digunakan setelah perintah yang pertama. Berguna jika anda ingin memindahkan blog/website anda dari tempat lama ke VPS.
- Untuk anda yang ingin memasang wordpress baru, maka perintah ketiga ini dapat anda gunakan. Perintah ketiga ini tidak membutuhkan perintah pertama dan kedua. Sekali dijalankan, maka wordpress akan diinstall di /var/www/nama-domain.com/public, dimana nama-domain.com adalah nama domain yang anda sebutkan.

Semua file ada di /var/www/nama-domain.com
Untuk detail database per domain ada di /var/www/nama-domain.com/mysql.conf

Setup phpmyadmin ada script-nya sendiri mas, setup-phpmyadmin.sh, aku pisah sementara, masih under development scriptnya. 😀

Oh iyo, itu keblokir sama firewall. Lali rung tak lebokke nang script-nya utk buka blokir port 81. Caranya gini mas:
1. Buka file /etc/iptables.up.rules
2. Cari baris: # Allows HTTP and HTTPS … bla bla bla.
3. Dibawah “-A INPUT -p tcp –dport 443 -j ACCEPT”, tambahkan baris yang sama, cuma beda port: “-A INPUT -p tcp –dport 81 -j ACCEPT” lalu save.
4. Jalankan ini: iptables -F && iptables -X && iptables-restore < /etc/iptables.up.rules 5. Langkah empat bisa disingkat dengan cara pamungkas: RESTART. 😀 Selamat mencoba!
