Budaya sensor mandiri adalah sebuah kebiasaan untuk tidak begitu saja mempercayai informasi yang datang kepada kita, dari sumber manapun juga.
Budaya sensor mandiri seharusnya sudah menjadi bagian dari bangsa Indonesia yang cerdas, cendikia dan beradab. Lunturnya budaya sensor mandiri di tengah masyarakat akan membuat tukang fitnah merajalela, apalagi di era sosmed seperti ini.
Budaya sensor mandiri, budaya konfirmasi
Beberapa waktu lalu saya membaca sebuah cerita, atau bisa dibilang sebuah curhatan dari seorang wanita bernama Yana Nurliana di Facebook(1). beliau menceritakan tentang warung bakso temannya yang difitnah. Warung bakso itu dituduh menggunakan campuran daging babi dalam produk yang dijualnya kepada konsumen.
Tanpa adanya konfirmasi kepada sang pemilik warung atau menghubungi pihak yang berwenang, banyak orang yang ada di Facebook langsung menyebarkan berita fitnah terhadap warung tersebut. Padahal masalah penggunaan daging babi pada produk bakso itu tidak benar sama sekali. Bahkan pemilik warung yang terkenal taat beribadah itu berani bersumpah atas nama Tuhan.
Akan tetapi balak tak bisa ditolak, malang tak bisa dihadang, warung baksonya sudah hancur. Tidak banyak lagi orang yang mau membeli di warungnya. Semua karena berita yang tidak benar, dibuat oleh segelintir orang (yang kemudian dicurigai sebagai saingan usaha) dan dibantu penyebarannya oleh orang-orang yang tidak memiliki budaya sensor mandiri. Kasihan, kan?
Budaya sensor mandiri, berpikir kembali, mainkan empati
Dalam bersosial media yang baik, kita tidak boleh lupa bahwa sosial media menggunakan kata sosial di dalamnya. Bingung? Tidak perlu. Maksudnya adalah kita tidak boleh lupa bahwa interaksi kita di sosial media berkaitan dengan orang lain. Baik perasaannya, pemikirannya ataupun bahkan hidupnya.
Sebagai contoh adalah cerita di atas, bagaimana sebuah produk bakso yang menjadi tulang punggung ekonomi sebuah keluarga hancur berkeping-keping karena apa yang disebarkan orang via sosial media. Apakah kalian mau menjadi bagian dari orang-orang yang menghancurkan hidup orang lain? Bagaimana jika suatu saat, kalian mengalami hal yang sama? Ngeri juga, kan?
Disinilah akal sehat, hati nurani dan empati kita diuji. Bagaimana jika orang dalam berita negatif yang belum terbukti kebenarannya itu adalah saudara, teman atau orang tua kita? So, mari kita berpikir ulang sebelum menekan tombol Share/Bagikan di media sosial apapun itu. Lebih baik dicap tidak kekinian daripada ikut bagian dalam dosa besar memfitnah orang, kan?
Ada berita yang terindikasi fitnah? Abaikan!
“Barang siapa yang beriman kepada Allah dan Hari Akhir maka hendaklah ia berkata baik atau hendaklah ia diam.”
Hadist diatas dibuat ketika belum ada sosial media. Jika kita tarik ke ranah dunia maya, saya rasa masih relevan. Paling tidak kita bisa memaknainya sebagai sikap dalam bermedia sosial yang lebih baik tidak menyebarkan sesuatu yang belum pasti baik buruknya. Lebih diutamakan tidak melakukan apapun, dalam arti tidak menyebarkan berita yang tidak terjamin kebenarannya.
Bagaimana menandai berita yang tidak terjamin kebenarannya? Caranya gampang. Lihat saja bagian bawahnya, apakah ada ajakan untuk menyebarkan berita tersebut? Lalu cek lagi apakah ada sumber berita lain yang sama persis dengan berita tersebut? Jika ya, apakah sumbernya dapat dipercaya? Jika tidak ada satupun yang cocok, lebih baik abaikan saja.
Dengan demikian, si tukang fitnah akan terbunuh dengan sendirinya. Jika setiap orang melakukan budaya sensor mandiri seperti itu, maka si tukang fitnah yang hidup menjual fitnah itu akan mati dengan sendirinya. Mereka akan membusuk diantara bangkai-bangkai fitnah mereka sendiri. Apakah kalian paham apa yang saya maksud?
