Orange Pi PC Desktop dengan Ubuntu Mate
Penggunaan Mini PC atau komputer mini sudah mulai dikenal sejak adanya Raspberry Pi. Semenjak munculnya mini PC murah tersebut, terciptalah banyak rancangan yang kemudian menjadi nyata, salah satunya adalah Orange Pi.
Orange Pi One, beda interface dan ukuran dengan Orange Pi PC
Orang Pi adalah sebuah mini PC yang cukup murah. Dengan spesifikasi yang cukup mirip dengan Raspberry Pi 2 B+, Orange Pi PC dijual seharga $15 dengan ongkir $4 dari pembuatnya di Tiongkok. Untuk diluar China daratan, Hongkong dan Taiwan, waktu pengirimannya hingga 30 hari. Jika tidak ingin menunggu lama, beli saja di Tokopedia. Banyak yang jual kok, tapi tanyakan stok dulu ya ke penjualnya.
Perbedaan Orange Pi PC dan Orange Pi One
Saya membeli Orange Pi dua biji, satu Orange Pi PC, satunya lagi Orange Pi One. Keduanya memiliki spesifikasi prosesor yang sama, yakni Allwinner H3, Quad Core CPU 1,2 Ghz. Perbedaan diantara keduanya adalah beberapa interface dan jumlah RAM-nya. Tabel perbandingan Orange Pi PC dan Orange Pi One adalah seperti dibawah ini:

Kenapa Orange Pi PC menggunakan Ubuntu Mate?
Pertama, saya adalah fans dari Debian dan turunannya. Lalu kenapa tidak pakai Debian saja? Memang ada Debian di daftar OS untuk Orang Pi PC dan Orange Pi One, tapi kelak ini tidak hanya dipake oleh saya saja, tapi oleh rekan-rekan di kantor web developer Jogja tempat saya bekerja. Lha meskipun sebenarnya sama, lebih mudah Ubuntu Mate daripada Debian XFCE, kan? Setidaknya untuk yang tidak terlalu kenal Linux.
Yang kedua, dari banyak literatur yang saya baca, ada beberapa OS terdaftar yang masih memiliki bug disana-sini. Nah, Ubuntu Mate untuk Orange Pi ini yang terbaik diantara semuanya. Meskipun tentu saja tidak sempurna, namun masih lebih baik daripada yang lainnya. Selain itu tampilannya juga lebih indah dengan desktop Mate yang lebih mendekati OSX, lebih familiar bagi sebagian besar kawan-kawan saya.
Bagaimana cara install Ubuntu Mate di Orange Pi?
Caranya gampang, siapkan bahan-bahan berikut:
- Komputer, bisa PC atau laptop dengan OS Windows atau Linux
- MicroSD (min. 8GB) dan USB Card reader atau converter MicroSD to SD Card (jika pakai laptop baru)
- Secangkir cokelat, teh atau kopi untuk menemani aktifitas
Hal pertama yang harus dilakukan adalah mengunjungi halaman thread Orange Pi Operating Systems lalu cari cara untuk mengunduhnya. Bingung? Ribet? Sudah kuduga. Tenang saja, sudah aku siapkan kok yang bisa langsung diunduh. Ini dia tautannya:
Setelah download beres, ekstrak file-file tadi. Lalu siapkan Micro-SD yang ingin digunakan sebagai storage. Colokkan ke komputer yang kamu gunakan untuk menyimpan file download-an diatas. Jika menggunakan Windows, bisa menggunakan Rufus versi 2.8. Kalau menggunakan Linux, tidak perlu download aplikasi lagi, cukup gunakan fungsi dasar dd dari terminal anda. Bagaimana cara write file img ke MicroSD bisa dicari di google lebih detail.
Instalasi Orange Pi masih berlanjut…
Setelah proses write selesai, cabut card reader atau apapun itu dari komputer, lalu colokkan lagi. Di Windows, kamu akan menemukan sebuah drive baru bernama BOOT. Nah, masuk kesitu, ada file dengan nama uImage, ga pake ekstensi apapun. Rename menjadi uImage.backup dan biarkan saja. Setelah itu, buka file hasil ekstrak dari file scriptbin_kernel.tar.gz lalu cari file uImage_OPI-2 dan copy ke drive BOOT tersebut. Rename menjadi uImage.
Selanjutnya, cari file yang bernama script.bin di folder BOOT. Jika tidak ada, tidak masalah. Copy script.bin yang sesuai dari folder hasil ekstrak yang sama dengan uImage tadi. Cari yang cocok dengan monitor kamu. Misalnya kek saya, resolusi monitor saya maksimal 1366×760, maka saya menggunakan file script.bin.OPI-2_720p60_hdmi. Artinya adalah resolusi desktop 1280×720 dengan refresh rate 60hz dan menggunakan output HDMI.
Copy file tersebut ke drive BOOT lalu rename menjadi script.bin lalu eject drive tersebut. Lepas MicroSD kamu dan pasang ke Orange Pi. Pastikan kamu sudah pasang monitor, keyboard dan mouse sebelum colokkan power supply ke listrik. Setelah itu tunggu hingga monitor nyala. Ada delay sekitar 10-15 detik sampai monitor menampilkan sesuatu.
Mungkin kamu akan menemukan booting Orange Pi berhenti pada satu titik. Jika itu terjadi, ada dua hal yang perlu kamu pastikan. Pertama, apakah microSD nya bekas atau mungkin rusak? Jika tidak, apakah power supply yang digunakan memiliki tegangan 5V dan arus minimal 2A? Sepengalaman saya menggunakan power supply 1A, Orange Pi berhenti booting.
Jika sudah sampai pada login screen, selamat! Sudah sukses tuh. Silahkan kalau mau diutak-atik sesukamu. Hm, ada pertanyaan?
