Mencari Koneksi Internet Alternatif Pengganti Esia
Bulan ini saya galau. Benar-benar galau. Pasti tanya kenapa, kan? Sebenarnya masalah sepele bagi kebanyakan orang, tapi bagi saya, ini adalah masalah yang besar.
Bulan depan, per 1 April 2015, Esia sudah tidak lagi menyediakan koneksi internet. Esia Max-D sudah tutup karena ijin penyelenggaraan jaringan Esia dicabut oleh pemerintah. Ini artinya saya tidak bisa lagi mendapatkan koneksi yang stabil dan lumayan kencang dengan harga yang terjangkau.
Tidak mencoba menggunakan SmartFren?
Menggunakan Smartfren adalah last resort, mengingat saya tidak ingin berinvestasi banyak pada teknologi yang akhirnya harus mati. Lihat Esia Max-D (dulunya bernama AHA), saya sudah berlangganan selama 5 tahun, tidak ada kompensasi apapun yang diberikan setelah hal ini terjadi. Bahkan permintaan maaf dan pemberitahuan di media resmi pun tidak.
Satu-satunya yang mereka lakukan adalah membuat pop-up pengumuman di website mereka, dimana pelanggan Esia Max-D belum tentu mengaksesnya. Saya pun baru tahu hal ini pada 6 Maret 2015, saat mencoba untuk mencari tahu paket apa yang bisa digunakan oleh Jogja Web sebagai backup jika koneksi Speedy mengalami masa “kurang ajar” beberapa kali dalam seminggu.
Maka dari itulah saya belum berpikir untuk menggunakan Smartfren sama sekali. Rumornya, Smartfren akan berganti ke menggunakan teknologi LTE yang artinya tidak lagi menggunakan CDMA Rev. B seperti saat ini karena katanya teknologinya sudah “dead end”. Nah, apa yang terjadi jika Smartfren pindah ke LTE dan tidak ada kompensasi apapun seperti Esia ini? Double shot in the head, huh?
Mencoba peruntungan dengan provider GSM
Berhubung saya termasuk dalam kategori orang moderat dalam menggunakan internet, kuota bagi saya bukanlah masalah. Kecepatan itulah yang jadi masalah. Saya memilih mendapatkan kuota yang lebih sedikit namun kecepatan maksimum daripada kuota berlimpah tapi lemot seperti keong. Apa gunanya kuota berlimpah jika terkoneksi saja susah? It’s fu**ing useless, right?
Ada beberapa pilihan yang pernah saya gunakan disini, diantaranya sebagai berikut:
- Telkomsel, kecepatannya memang luar biasa. Saya pernah mencobanya, namun tidak di kost saya. Entahlah, di kost saya, si Telkomsel ini tidak mau terkoneksi. Hal ini juga dialami oleh mas Ndop waktu bertandang ke kost saya, iPhone-nya yang menggunakan Telkomsel tidak bisa terkoneksi.
- Indosat, kecepatannya cukup fair, RSCP -85dB atau sekitar 80% (MiFi Siera Wireless 754s) dan saya sedang menggunakanya untuk menulis artikel ini. Sayang sekali kualitas kecepatannya naik turun dan sering diskonek tanpa alasan yang jelas.
- XL, kecepatannya cukup fair, meskipun sinyalnya sama dengan Indosat, namun kecepatan dan kualitasnya lebih stabil. Disini saya bisa menyatakan bahwa Indosat seharusnya malu dengan pelanggan di wilayah saya karena Base Station Controller mereka tidak jauh, kurang lebih hanya 800 meter saja.
- Tri, sebenarnya not recommended di kost saya. Tapi di tempat lain sangat lumayan kencangnya. Saya hanya mendapatkan sinyal 2 bar atau sekitar 40% saat berada di kost. Bisa dipastikan modem akan sangat panas menggunakan Tri, belum lagi koneksinya menjadi seperti keong.
Untuk itu per satu April 2015, saya putuskan untuk menggunakan XL. Meskipun kabarnya XL tidak lagi mengeluarkan kartu perdana murah, saya kemungkinan besar tetap menggunakan XL. Yang saya butuhkan bukanlah kuota yang besar dan berlimpah, namun koneksi yang stabil. Semoga XL bisa memenuhi kebutuhan saya tersebut. Bagaimana dengan anda? Provider apa yang anda pakai?

Memang susah ya mas ngandelin koneksi dari operator seluler, ujung2nya mahal atau ga stabil walau ada dikota besar, sy juga lagi cari alternatif selain Indosat, karena paketnya udah makin pelit kuota 🙂 akibatnya sebulan bisa 4x beli paket 11GB
