Selamat Tinggal AHA a.k.a Esia Max-D
Hari ini adalah 31 Maret 2015. Beberapa minggu yang lalu saya mendapatkan kabar bahwa Esia tidak akan lagi menyediakan layanan data per 1 April 2015.
Tampilan antarmuka AHA Dialer modem Huawei EC167 locked Esia.
Sebuah akhir yang ironis untuk teknologi CDMA di Indonesia. Teknologi yang dikatakan “tidak netral” ini sebenarnya cukup lumayan. Sejauh saya menggunakan Esia Max-D (yang sebelumnya bernama AHA), saya tidak banyak menemui kendala. Pengen tahu berapa lama saya pakai Esia Max-D? Kurang lebih 4 tahun 9 bulan. Saya menggunakan Esia Max-D sejak Juni 2010, atau kurang lebih sejak Bakrie Telecom meluncurkan AHA di Jogja.
Kenapa Esia Max-D tutup?
Esia Max-D, layanan data atau internet dari Bakrie Telecom sudah ditutup karena merger antara Bakrie Telecom dan Smartfren. Seluruh aset dari Bakrie Telecom akan dimerger ke Smartfren dan menjadi porsi saham. Tidak hanya berhenti sampai disitu, ternyata Bakrie Telecom juga akan merumahkan 400 karyawannya. Namanya bisnis, ada yang untung, ada yang rugi, itu adalah sebuah keniscayaan. Seperti dalam kasus Bakrie Telecom ini, usahanya rugi lalu bekerjasama dengan Smartfren. Hal yang sama juga pernah dilakukan oleh operator Fren yang bergabung dengan Smart lalu membentuk Smartfren. Jadi ini bukanlah hal yang luar biasa, apalagi bagi manusia yang hidup cukup lama di dunia seperti saya.
Siapa yang dirugikan?
Bagaimanapun pasti ada yang diuntungkan dan juga dirugikan jika ada perubahan sekecil apapun. Meskipun bukan merger total, hanya pengalihan aset dan perjanjian penggunaan jaringan, namun tetap ada sebagian pelanggan yang dirugikan. Pelanggan yang paling dirugikan tentu saja mereka yang telah membeli devices dengan sistem bundling dengan operator Esia seperti modem dan ponsel pintar.
Silahkan googling sendiri, banyak yang mengeluhkan, terutama mereka yang menggunakan ponsel Esia Huawei yang dikunci dengan Esia. Dengan Esia yang berhenti operasi memberikan paket data, maka ponsel mereka pun menjadi tidak pintar lagi. Ponsel pintar mendapatkan kepintarannya dari internet, kalo sudah tidak bisa terkoneksi dengan internet, tentu saja tidak jadi pintar lagi, kan?
Meskipun saya juga termasuk yang dirugikan karena modem saya adalah bundling AHA, namun saya masih bisa memaafkan. Ini dikarenakan saya sudah menggunakannya cukup lama, hampir lima tahun. Paling tidak ya sudah “balik modal”. Yah, saya tidak menampik jika diawalnya saya merasa kesal juga. Huawei EC167 milik saya tidak bisa di-unlock dan digunakan untuk operator lain, menjadikannya hanya seonggok sampah yang tak berguna.
Pada akhirnya kita semua harus menerima kenyataan, bahwa Bakrie Telecom telah bangkrut. Esia sudah tidak lagi menyediakan layanan data. Saya pun sudah move on dengan menggunakan layanan data dari XL Axiata. Tidak ada alasan spesial, hanya XL saja yang koneksinya cepat di kost saya. Mungkin akan saya bahas lain waktu. Salam move on!

Dengan harga terjangkau dan jaringan yang cukup stabil, rasa-rasanya tidak ada yang dapat menggantikan provider esia yang saya pakai untuk modem. Namun, dengan sangat terpaksa saya diharuskan beralih ke lain operator seperti ini. Nah pertanyaannya, kalau memang smartfren dimerger dengan esia, mengapa modem esia tidak bisa di-unlock dan diganti kartunya dengan kartu smartfren ya mas? Lantas, mas sekarang memakai modem apa ya? Soalnya dulu saya pernah punya modem gsm merk huawei tidak bertahan lama karena cepat panas dan akhirnya rusak tidak bisa dipakai lagi. Saya jadi ragu mau beli modem apa (yang murah dan awet gitu hehe). Mungkin mas punya solusi dan rekomendasi? Saya tunggu ya mas. Terima kasih.

Saya pernah baca di Kompasiana, ada seorang user yang menggunakan Esia Max-D, sudah dibawa ke gerai Esia, katanya tidak bisa berbuat apa-apa. Saya lupa artikelnya, coba digoogling dah. Sekarang saya pakai XL dengan Mifi Sierra Wireless 754S, tapi tidak sendirian, dikasi kipas yang buat laptop itu supaya dingin. Saran saya, beli aja yang Sierra Wireless, sinyalnya bagus. Tapi ya itu, mesti dikasi kipas biar adem. Kalo modem, ada kok yang jual pendingin ada kipasnya. Untuk providernya, silahkan dipilih yang cocok aja dipake di lokasi. 🙂
