AXIS: Internet Untuk Rakyat, Seperti Apa Itu?
Iklan operator telekomunikasi AXIS dalam memperkenalkan sistem internet barunya sungguh luar biasa menarik orang untuk melihatnya. Dalam iklan tersebut dikatakan bahwa pemakaian internet untuk 24 jam maksimal hanya bayar Rp. 3.500,- saja.
Perdana Axis dan Modem Prolink PHS100.
Menurut saya ini adalah terobosan yang bagus. Tidak semua orang butuh internet setiap hari. Model berlangganan yang sistemnya langsung diperpanjang juga bisa membuat orang lupa untuk UNREG. Maka dari itu saya ingin mencoba, siapa tahu hasilnya cukup memuaskan. Saya lalu nitip dibeliin perdana AXIS ke pacar.
Sebelum dimasukkan ke modem, perdana sudah dipotret, gambarnya diatas sebagai bukti bahwa testimoni ini bukan karangan. Setelah masuk modem, saya tancapkan modem tersebut ke laptop kesayangan saya, CQ41-110AU. Voila, hasilnya membuat saya terkejut. Coba cek gambar dibawah ini.
Sinyal GSM AXIS cukup tinggi, 95% – Condongcatur, Sleman
Disini terlihat bahwa sinyal AXIS memang luar biasa, mencapai 95%. Namun indikator di transfer data masih berupa GSM, bukan EDGE. Cukup aneh menurut saya mengingat GSM itu menggunakan sistem CSD yang maksimal transfer datanya hanya 56Kbps, sedangkan EDGE bisa mencapai 256Kbps. Saya berkesimpulan bahwa kalaupun bisa terkoneksi, kecepatan internetnya bisa jadi sangat payah. Penampakan diatas menggunakan setting pemilihan jaringan otomatis. Jadi jaringan yang terbaik yang akan diambil.
Tidak terdeteksi sinyal 3G dari AXIS
Lalu setting pemilihan jaringan saya ganti dengan 3G only. Ternyata baik di 3G 2100 maupun 3G 850/1900, sinyal AXIS tidak tampak batang hidungnya. Saya coba scan dan yang dapat malah sinyal 3G dari Telkomsel, Indosat, XL dan Three. Berhubung saya nekat, saya coba koneksikan di jaringan 2G/GSM, ternyata failed. Ya sudah, berarti di tempat saya memang tidak bisa menggunakan AXIS.
Moral dari cerita diatas adalah pastikan anda mendapatkan cukup sinyal jika ingin berlangganan internet melalui media tanpa kabel. Kecepatan internet dari koneksi bermedium gelombang ini adalah tergantung seberapa banyaknya sinyal yang bisa anda terima di tempat anda berada. Jadi jangan memaksakan diri jika sinyal 3G operator tertentu cukup minim di tempat anda berada.
