Pengajar itu Seharusnya Seperti Angka Nol
Ketika berbicara tentang angka nol, banyak hal yang bisa kita dapatkan. Salah satunya adalah filosofi angka nol jika dikaitkan dengan kehidupan seorang pengajar.
Pengajar tidak selalu guru
Kenapa saya gunakan kata pengajar disini adalah tidak lain karena kata guru terlalu sempit ruang lingkupnya. Guru adalah pengajar tetapi pengajar belum tentu guru. Seseorang yang lebih dahulu tahu lalu mengajarkan kepada orang yang belum tahu adalah pengajar. Seorang ayah dan ibu sebenarnya juga pengajar bagi anak-anaknya, bahkan yang paling utama.
Nol bukan apa-apa jika di depan
Bagi saya, angka nol ini adalah angka yang unik. Jika dia diletakkan di depan, seringkali tidak bermakna. Namun jika diletakkan di belakang, bisa memperbesar angka yang di depannya. Selama ini berapa banyak yang menyadari bahwa angka nol begitu penting? Menurut survei mini yang saya lakukan, tidak banyak yang menyadarinya. Mereka hanya melihat angka nol sebagai angka, itu saja, angka yang sama dengan yang lainnya.
Filosofi mengajar dengan angka nol
Seorang pengajar sebaiknya menempatkan diri di belakang. Artinya, seorang pengajar mendukung dan mendorong siapapun yang diajarnya. Biarkan mereka berkreasi dengan imajinasinya. Pengajar hanya memberitahukan apa yang ia tahu saja. Tidak perlu memimpin anak didik untuk menjadi A, B atau C, biarkan saja mereka melakukan apa saja dengan tanggung jawabnya sendiri.
Mengajar sama artinya dengan menunjukkan sesuatu. Apakah anda menunjukkan sesuatu dengan berada di depan orang sambil memunggunginya? Tidak mungkin. Paling umum adalah ada di sampingnya, lalu menunjuk ke arah tertentu supaya yang orangnya tahu. Dapat juga dilakukan dengan kasih sayang, jika yang ditunjukkan lebih muda, yakni dengan menunjukkan lewat bahu orang tersebut. Yang terakhir memposisikan penunjuknya ada di belakang orang yang ingin tahu.
Pada intinya adalah mengajar tidak boleh mendikte. Harus ini, harus itu, dan lain sebagainya. Bagi saya pribadi, tidak ada keharusan dalam mengajar. Misalnya keharusan seorang murid mencontoh pengajarnya. Selama jalan yang ditempuh baik dan hasilnya sama, kenapa tidak boleh berbeda? Bahkan untuk murid yang kampret sekalipun, berbeda itu bukan masalah.
