Sebenarnya, tidak ada orang lain yang memberikan kesuksesan dalam hidup kita. Bahkan sebagian orang di sekitar kita lebih suka jika melihat kita gagal. Kita sadari atau tidak, itulah yang terjadi. Kita mungkin beruntung memiliki keluarga dan teman sejati. Tetapi sebaiknya kita adalah orang yang harus paling peduli dengan apa yang terjadi dalam hidup kita sendiri, bukan orang lain.
Mari mengambil tanggung jawab pribadi
Mari kita menerima bahwa kita adalah yang membuat keberhasilan diri. Tuhan tidak akan mengubah nasib suatu kaum sebelum kaum itu sendiri yang mengubahnya. Meskipun Tuhan menentukan hasil dari sebuah rencana, namun rencana akan hanya menjadi rencana jika kita tidak melakukan apapun. Saya yakin bahwa Tuhan membenci orang yang tidak banyak berbuat untuk dirinya sendiri. Jika kita tidak dapat menolong diri kita sendiri, bagaimana kita menolong orang lain? Kita harus memaksimalkan daya dan upaya dengan cara yang bermartabat sesuai dengan bimbingan Tuhan untuk meraih kesuksesan.

Ada sebuah bagian menarik dari buku “Marketing Wizards” karangan Vic Sperandeo. Diceritakan disana ada sebuah kisah tentang pasar saham yang memiliki hasil tak terduga. Justru yang paling cerdas diantara mereka kehilangan uang paling banyak. Mengejutkan? Tentu saja. Ternyata akar masalahnya adalah orang-orang yang cerdas itu tidak mau menyesuaikan dengan realitas. Oleh karena itu jika kita tidak mendapatkan apa yang kita inginkan, tidak perlu terlalu sombong untuk meyakini bahwa metode yang kita gunakan adalah benar. Apalagi jika kita menganggap bahwa metode orang lain itu salah. Lebih baik kita membuka pikiran dan menerima kenyataan daripada bersikeras dan berpegang teguh pada pemikiran yang salah. Istilah gaulnya ya move on dengan terlebih dahulu mengakui kesalahan, minimal pada diri sendiri.
Dalam ilmu Tai Chi, ada ungkapan “jadilah air, bukan batu”. Ini berarti kita harus fleksibel seperti air. Saat air membentur rintangan, mereka mengalir di sekelilingnya. Air tidak susah payah mengubah rintangan menjadi seperti yang ia inginkan. Air melewati rintangan dengan mulus. Beda dengan batu yang ketika membentur penghalang, mereka melambat atau bahkan berhenti.
Adaptasi, itulah kuncinya. Terkadang kita perlu mengubah suatu cara untuk mencapai sesuatu, perlu berubah juga dalam rangka mencapai tujuan. Gengsi dicap plin-plan? Helooo! Sudah milenium ketiga kok masih gengsi, bro? Udah ga jaman kali. Selama kita melakukannya dengan jalan yang benar dan bermartabat, tidak ada salahnya berubah. 🙂
