Sun Tzu itu primitif. Itu adalah kesimpulan saya setelah membaca berulang-ulang “The Art of War”, 11 tahun lalu. Saya lalu membaca bermacam buku implementasi strategi Sun Tzu tersebut dalam berbagai bidang.
Buku The Gita of Management, untuk mereka yang berhati lembut.
Hingga pada akhirnya saya kembali pada suatu kesimpulan yang saya sebutkan diatas, bahwa ajaran Sun Tzu itu primitif. Kenapa? Karena ia menganggap semua orang yang berpotensi mengalahkannya adalah musuh dan harus dikalahkan terlebih dahulu.
Bhagavad Gita, sebuah kebijaksanaan Illahi
Meskipun The Art of War dan Bhagavad Gita sama-sama muncul pada saat perang, dimana terjadi perebutan kekuasaan terjadi, namun isinya jauh berbeda. Bhagavad Gita, catatan percakapan Arjuna dan Sri Khrisna menjelang Bharatayudha itu lebih menentramkan. Di dalamnya banyak memuat petuah-petuah yang meningkatkan keyakinan diri untuk menghadapi kehidupan.
Berbeda dengan The Art of War yang lebih mementingkan hasil daripada proses, Bhagavad Gita berorientasi pada proses dengan menyerahkan hasilnya kepada Tuhan. Menurut Sri Khrisna, manusia layak dihargai berdasarkan usahanya. Usaha manusia harus berdasarkan kebenaran dan menolak melakukan kebathilan dalam perjalanan usahanya itu. The Art of War juga menebarkan keraguan dan paranoid, sedangkan Bhagavad Gita lebih kepada kasih sayang dan kelembutan hati.

Untuk anda yang terlalu berat membaca langsung Bhagavad Gita versi asli, bisa mencoba membaca buku-buku yang disarikan dari Bhagavad Gita dulu. Salah satunya adalah The Gita of Management, karangan dari Anand Khrisna, pendiri dari Anand Ashram Foundation.
Meskipun menurut kacamata saya buku ini dipenuhi emosi penulisnya, terutama ketika membahas Sun Tzu, namun pendapat-pendapatnya tentang ajaran Sri Khrisna masih cenderung netral dan masuk akal. Dalam buku ini dijelaskan bahwa Bhagavad Gita bisa diterapkan ke dalam sebuah manajemen perusahaan, meskipun tidak secara praktikal.
Paling tidak ada beberapa hal dalam buku ini yang membuat anda termenung. Ada pula beberapa hal yang tiba-tiba mengusik perasaan kita, menganggu ketenangan hidup kita. Akan tetapi semua itu jika anda hadapi dengan pikiran dan hati yang lapang maka buku ini dapat memberikan pencerahan dalam hidup anda.
Menerima mentah-mentah itu tidak baik, menolak sepenuhnya juga tidak baik. Bahkan dalam sekarung beras pun ada kotorannya. Demikian kata kakek saya di suatu pagi yang cerah. Buku The Gita of Management ini jauh dari sempurna karena buatan manusia. Anda harus bisa menyiram, menyaring dan membilas mana yang baik bagi anda.
Bhagavad Gita, bukan ajaran Islam?
Pernah seorang teman berkata seperti itu. Memang benar Bhagavad Gita bukan ajaran Islam, bahkan ekstremnya hanya sebuah karya fiksi. Tetapi sebuah kesombongan yang nyata jika kita menolak mentah-mentah untuk sekedar membaca dan merenunginya. Bagi saya ajaran-ajaran Sri Khrisna dalam Bhagavad Gita sangat islami. Salah satu favorit saya adalah ini:
Berkaryalah demi TUGAS DAN KEWAJIBAN, bukan demi surga, apalagi demi kenikmatan dunia (Ikhlas). Jangan merisaukan hasil akhir, tak perlu memikirkan keberhasilan atau kegagalan (Action). Dengan jiwa yang seimbang dan tak terikat pada pengalaman suka maupun duka, berkaryalah dengan penuh semangat (Move On).
Kata yang ada berada dalam kurung adalah tambahan saya sendiri. Ikhlas, action dan move on, bukankah itu ajaran Islam juga? Lalu apa yang salah jika terinspirasi dari kata-kata tersebut? Janganlah berprasangka buruk kepada Allah, Dia Yang Maha Mengetahui tidak akan semudah itu mencap kita kafir hanya karena mempelajari kalimat-kalimat yang bukan dari Quran dan Sunnah.
Inti dari ajaran Bhagavad Gita adalah selalu berpegang teguh kepada kebenaran hakiki, bukan kebenaran relatif. Dalam mencapai sebuah tujuan, manusia akan digoda dengan berbagai macam jalan, namun seseorang harus tetap mengikuti jalan kebenaran dengan lemah lembut dan penuh kasih sayang. Berasa familiar, kan?
Anyway, setidaknya saya menemukan satu orang lagi yang sependapat bahwa Sun Tzu itu primitif. Bagaimana dengan pendapat anda?
